The China National Space Administration (CNSA) has announced that the Chang’e-6 lunar probe is slated for launch at the commencement of May, following a meticulous series of preparations.
On Saturday, the combined assembly of the Chang’e-6 lunar probe and the Long March-5 Y8 carrier rocket was carefully transported in a vertical position to the launch area at the Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan Province, southern China. This operation, overseen by the CNSA, involved the methodical transfer of the combination from the vertical test building to the designated launch site.
Prior to liftoff, comprehensive functional checks, joint testing procedures, and propellant filling operations will be conducted to ensure the readiness and reliability of the mission. These critical steps are essential to safeguard the success of the upcoming lunar exploration endeavor.
Both the Chang’e-6 lunar probe and the Long March-5 Y8 carrier rocket had previously arrived at the launch site in January and March, respectively. Since their arrival, a series of assembly, testing, and preparatory activities have been diligently undertaken, culminating in the imminent launch.
